Claude - HB9OX

I am 78 years old but I still enjoy QRP operation since 1952. Now I work QRP CW mostly with an SST20 (2W) for portable or a TEN TEC SCOUT for mutiband operation.

Antenna 20M: Half Wave vertical, stranded wire supported by a 10 m fiberglass telescoping pole and matched with a coaxial stub RG 58. Antenna for all other bands: 27 m random wire with 1:9 Toroid HF transformer at the feed point, MFJ 901B Tuner at the output of the TX, coax feeder RG-58 about 10 m length. I also have an ultra short 40M antenna (the radiator is made from 4 bean cans soldered end to end, length abt. 470 mm)

I have even made DX CW contacts VK /PY etc.. using the SST 20 and a home made Whip antenna (2.5 m length) for 20M, mounted on the hotel Balcony in the Balearic Islands. In this case I used 16 radials of 2.50 m length randomly spread on the Balcony floor. I got good to very good reports also from most European Countries.

I am a member of ARRL, USKA, FISTS (#4849), G-QRP (#9281).
